Look out those clubs and get ready to tee-off;
This week we are pleased to feature a guest blog from Debbie Fotheringham at VSA, with full details on this year’s Tartan Pro-Am golf day!
Before I begin, please take note that VSA is a super happy place and we’re definitely not all about the doom and the gloom! But…
I’m going to kick-start by revealing the sad stat that around a third of children in Scotland no longer live with their biological fathers. But is it much of a revelation? Are you surprised? If you cast your mind through friends-of-friends, close friends and even your own family it’s probably fairly easy to relate to.
Strangely, things like this are what we pride ourselves on at VSA. Every time we begin an appeal or ask people to get behind us at an event, sharing the specific cause is vital. Without explaining that the person behind the words, photo or ticket price, could be you, your family or your friend, there’s no resonance.
So, as we encourage Aberdeen’s golfing greats (not-so-greats also more than welcome!) to our Tartan Pro-Am golf day in August we’re quick to tell them about the banter-filled day and evening of fine dining and engaging entertainment, the great networking opportunities and the lucrative ways they can get their brand involved. But we’re even quicker to highlight the real, local cause it’s all in aid of.
Since the early 90s, VSA’s one-of-a-kind-in-Aberdeen Family Contact Centre has made life easier for separated families. Children get a chilled, neutral, happy place to spend precious time with the mum or dad who no longer lives with them. It’s not just parents – grandparents often don’t see children after a separation and can use the service too. It’s really special. Can you imagine what it means to the children?
But this amazing facility depends entirely on voluntary income. Although we work hard to secure funding and sponsorship from generous individuals and organisations in the north-east, events like the Tartan Pro-Am are essential to bring in the full £21,000 needed each year.
So please, join us! You won’t just be supporting a really important cause close to home – it’s a great opportunity to treat clients and staff too. Our corporate sponsorships relaunched this year too, so there are plenty of cost effective ways to get involved.
If we’ve grabbed your attention, get in touch! For more information about sponsorship, to hear more or book a place, call me on 01224 358617 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
The Tartan Pro-Am will be held on Thursday 15 August 2013 (the perfect alternative for those who didn’t get tickets to the Scotland match!) at Aboyne golf course, followed by a fundraising dinner at The Marcliffe.
